Colleges close as weather worsens

The stormy weather affected a number colleges around the country today as UCC cancelled all afternoon lectures and DCU closed the Ballymun Road avenue to all vehicles and pedestrians for safety reasons.

The College View have gathered some of the online reaction.

DCU Students’ Union President Aaron Clogher forwarded an email to students Estates Director Michael Kelly stating that the avenue was closed due to falling debris from the trees. If the weather improves it will re-open. Meanwhile the traffic barrier in front of Albert College is open to allow access via Collins Avenue:

Earlier Met Eireann issued a red alert weather warning for Cork and Kerry:
