The stormy weather affected a number colleges around the country today as UCC cancelled all afternoon lectures and DCU closed the Ballymun Road avenue to all vehicles and pedestrians for safety reasons.

UCC sent an emergency text to students this afternoon:

UL also cancelled afternoon lectures:

Students in IT Tralee were earlier advised to remain in buildings for safety:

DCU Students’ Union President Aaron Clogher forwarded an email to students Estates Director Michael Kelly stating that the avenue was closed due to falling debris from the trees. If the weather improves it will re-open. Meanwhile the traffic barrier in front of Albert College is open to allow access via Collins Avenue:
