Cumann Gaelach and Enactus were the big winners at the 31st annual Clubs and Societies Awards held in The Helix last week.
Enactus won Best Society in a Civic & Charity field, while Cumann Gaelach scooped Best Society.
Chairperson of Cumann Gaelach, Caoimhe Ní Chathail said the committee’s drive and love for the language has helped the society go from strength to strength.
“Two years ago, Cumann Gaelach was non-existent and to have won Most Promising Society last year and Best Society this year is a testament to our passion for the society”, Ní Chathail said.
She went on to say that the committee has achieved so much in the last few years and are thrilled that they have been rewarded for their efforts.
“We have managed to create a bi-lingual campus and we are so grateful that our efforts to rejuvenate both the society and Gaeilge in DCU have been recognised,” she said.
“I am so proud of the entire committee and it is such a pleasure to know I am leaving DCU knowing we have left an impression on the university.”
Chairperson of Enactus, Róisín Nestor said the committee was thrilled to have won after a year of hard work and commitment to social projects.
“We are so delighted to have won, we’ve put in so much work over the past year running our social projects and events. We’ve doubled our membership number and set up three brand new social projects, so it’s great to have this award as testament to our hard work,” Nestor said.
