Lorna Finnegan talks with club Chairperson Cliodhna McHugh.
Describe your club in 5 words.
Fun, energetic, hectic, friendly and banter.
How did you get involved in GAA in the first place?
I’ve always played GAA and one of the main reasons I came to DCU was because of its reputation for ladies football. It was the first thing I looked into.
What’s your biggest achievement through competing with DCU Ladies GAA Club?
Winning the O’Connor Cup in first year was unreal, and of course winning the 3 Division 1 league titles in a row this year.
How does playing with DCU differ from playing with your home club?
College football is a lot faster and more physical than club or county. All the girls playing up here are very talented and everyone wants to win which makes it much more intense but enjoyable.
What has been your fondest memory since first joining the club?
The week after we won the O’Connor Cup in first year, it was just a great week of bonding.
Why would you encourage others to join DCU Ladies GAA?
We are all such a close group of friends and it doesn’t matter what age or year you are in, everyone is equal. You’ll definitely make friends for life.
