Engineering and Computing Hustings: Condon, Hayden and McCullagh

The hustings for the Engineering and Computing faculty convener began with a three minute opening statement from each candidate and then opened up the floor for questions.

The three candidates running for the position are: Riain Condon, Avril Hayden and Conor McCullagh.

Condon, the current CA1 class rep and and First Year Officer on the Students’ Union said he planned to set up a faculty council to solve issues effectively, optimise lab availability times and affiliate more with clubs and societies.

Hayden, said she would continue the great work done by previous representatives, especially the current convenor James Nolan. She said she hopes to become the first female convenor with her aims of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) by visiting schools, promoting societies related to courses and making Engineering Week made part of the SU calendar.

McCullagh said he would focus on social, personal and academic areas, if elected. He said he hoped to have more social events to engage the faculty more and more class representative training, information and support.
