An upgraded wired and wireless network system is being installed across all DCU campuses and is the reason for recent server disturbances, Information Systems Services (ISS) says.
The upgrade began in 2015 and is expected to be completed by 2017. The system will provide a more resilient network that is better able to meet the reliability and capacity that is needed to meet the expanding university over the coming years.
Due to the large nature of the project, ISS said they are unable to avoid performing elements of the project during the university’s opening hours.
“We understand that the normal business of the university must be able to continue with as little disruption as possible while this essential upgrade work progresses”, ISS said to The College View, “We aim to keep disruption to a minimum when scheduling maintenance windows and to keep the maintenance windows as short as possible.”
Maintenance in the Henry Grattan will continue over the next few weeks. The maintenance will take place in the morning between 7am and 8.30am, approximately.
The maintenance will continue for the next twelve to eighteen months across all DCU campuses.
