Chic ft. Nile Rodgers
What is there left to say about the legendary disco innovators? Daft Punk and Get Lucky may have hauled them back into mainstream consciousness, but we here in Ireland were in the know long before that. Their 2009 Electric Picnic appearance has taken on mythical status and they haven’t been able to stop coming back since, taking in a triumphant headline set at Forbidden Fruit in 2013 and a fabulous midnight main stage return to Stradbally last year. They’ll play not only their own hits, but everything hit-machine Nile Rodgers has helped to write – from Sister Sledge’s We Are Family to Bowie’s Let’s Dance and yes, Get Lucky. Keep your eyes peeled – we may see a surprise guest, in the form of a long hinted at collaboration with U2.

Todd Terje
The new pretender to the disco throne. The Norwegian producer – whose name is a homage to house legend Todd Terry – has made his name over the past decade with a string of quality remixes and edits of classic disco hits and contemporary club bangers. Like Rodgers, there’s something of the hitmaker about him too – he helped write Robbie Williams’ number one hit Candy in 2012. Terje’s long awaited debut, It’s Album Time, was released last year and features some real behemoths – the likes of Strandbar, Delorean Dynamite and Inspector Norse will get any floor moving in no time. Catch him in the Shelbourne hall at 9:45 on Saturday.

Hare Squead
The new kids on the block – Hare Squead are a trio of rappers from Tallaght who grabbed attention with a high-energy appearance on the Meeting House Square stage at Hard Working Class Heroes last year. Since then they’ve moved from strength to strength – they supported Le Galaxie at their album launch in the Academy this year and have landed the privilege of opening the main stage at 3pm this Saturday. Backed by a live band, the trio have some serious pop tunes in their locker. They’re just as happy slowing things down a little and showcase their soulful influences. Not just for confused Squarehead fans.

Four Tet
“This Video of Confused Clubbers is an Ode to the Beautiful Disappointment of Life” goes the headline of a Vice article that discusses Ibiza clubbers’ reaction to Four Tet’s recent remix of Opus by Eric Pyrdz. Kieran Hebden has become a legendary figure in British electronic music over the years – he’s remixed Radiohead, released a split EP with Burial and his all-night parties at the Brixton Academy sell out in seconds – but inspiring that article may be his ultimate achievement. For this live show he can delve into a huge discography, with eight studio albums’ worth of material to choose from. Pitch up to the Shelbourne hall at 6pm on Sunday for a show that hopefully will have more of the beauty and less of the disappointment.
