All Fired Up for Full Monty

The stage is set, and the velcro pants are on as anticipation builds for DCU Dance’s 2026 Full Monty. With a wide array of societies vying for glory and campus bragging rights, there’s no doubt this year’s competition will be sexier than ever.

Whilst tickets may be full price, clothes are 100% off.

Those who came to double their cash may be leaving with half their wardrobe as this year’s theme is ‘A Night at The Casino’, and with DCU’s finest preparing to put everything on the line, you can guarantee one thing: it’s going to be a full house. With strip teases, straddling and a serious amount of cleavage, the audience is certainly in for a treat. So, get ready to watch your favourite society go ‘all in’.

Surf N Sail+ Snow sports:

This unlikely mix of degenerates came together under one common ground: their shared love of getting absolutely soaked, pounded, and left breathless by a heavy swell. The men are on a mission to prove that not all surfers are stoners, but when they’re high rolling (or rolling high) on the casino floor, I guess there’s no helping them. These joint adrenaline junkies, along with their choreographer Ida, have been putting in the hours, getting down on all fours and preparing to prove that what happens on the slopes doesn’t necessarily stay on the slopes.

Rugby:

These fellas are always keen to get down and dirty. Their training down in St. Pats has well equipped them for the up-close and personal performance that’s about to unfold. Rugby has its fair share of stereotypes, and unfortunately, this group seems determined to prove every single one of them. The Full Monty stage and the post-match changing rooms have a lot in common too: way too much skin, questionable choreography and at least one sight that’ll stay with you for the rest of your life.

Style:

DCU style is taking a different approach to their typical dress-up events. From the runways of Milan to the Venue of DCU, oh how the mighty have fallen; then again, who’s to say one can’t look fashionable wearing nothing but a mankinini and a smile. Style’s chair Aoife Loughrey had this to say when asked about her squad taking part. ‘Style is bringing the sauce to full monty. We will be dripping in latex and lace – oh, and don’t forget us fashionistas love accessories, expect us to have whip and chains in hand, just like Rihanna says “Meow, you will not want to miss this”!’

Her Campus:

Who said female empowerment had to come fully clothed? With confidence high and inhibitions low, they’re ready to show the rest of DCU that feminism, flair and a dangerously good eight-count can go hand in hand. Chairperson Sarah O’Donnell added, ‘When we were asked to do the Full Monty, we knew we had to switch from events and articles to fishnets. DCU’s best (and hottest) society is coming to make a lasting impression. Did someone say what happens in the Venue?’

Cumann Gaelach:

An bhfuil sibh go maith? Mar tá sibh ag féachaint go maith. These fellas certainly put the gnéas in gnéasúil. Cumann Ghaelach are swapping cúpla focal for cúpla píosa éadaí. You can bet  you’ll have a cracking time while they show their own craiceann up on stage.

Rock Climbing:

With straps on and harnesses tied tight, this performance is bound to leave you rock hard. They’ll be betting on a strong grip, a firm hand and a hot landing.  They may be expecting to win, but everybody else is hoping for a bust. It’s quite often rock climbers get excited about holding big jugs and tonight is no different. Looks like they’ve finally found a reason to climb without using protection. Ronan Hayes had this to add, ‘Expect this team to spread their chalk in every deep crevice tonight, as there’ll be absolutely no slipping when things start getting sweaty… they know exactly how to move their bodies around somebod… I mean around a boulder…’

Drama:

Drama certainly knows how to fake it on stage, and with their poker faces perfected, they are ready to prove they know exactly when to hold ’em. They’re no strangers to getting into all sorts of positions for the sake of a good performance. The only guarantee is there’ll be plenty of dramatic climaxes involved. If all goes well and they hit all their cues, they’ll definitely be expecting a standing ovulation.

Students’ Union:

They promised transparency, but this might be taking it a little too far. They were elected to represent the student body, but by the end of the night they’ll have the majority of the student body feeling equally erected. For once, when the SU says they’re exposing themselves for the students, they actually mean it.
