DCU MPS 24 Hour Broadcast to Raise Money for The Gavin Glynn Foundation

The DCU Media Production Society is hosting its annual 24 Hour Broadcast in aid of The Gavin Glynn Foundation which helps families who are helping their children to fight cancer.

The broadcast takes place on Wednesday 3rd December at 8pm until 8pm the following day. The usual live audience segment will run from 6pm on Thursday until the show’s close, with DCU students, faculty and family invited to attend.

This year’s broadcast theme is ‘Super Circus’ and the Venue in the U building will be decorated to celebrate the broadcast and the foundation. The broadcast is helmed by MPS TV Managers Ailish Connor and Mya Breen.

Ailish Connor said: “Myself and Mya are very excited to take on this responsibility. In the production aspect we’re very excited to push ourselves into a role that might be difficult for us. Equally it’s extremely rewarding because of how important it is to raise awareness for the fact that a lot of children in Ireland don’t have access to correct facilities for cancer treatment”.

Excitement is already building toward the Broadcast with a pub quiz in the Bernard Shaw kicking off fundraising. 12 Days of Broadcast will take place across MPS social media channels during the lead up to the show. There are many prizes to be won and celebrity stings to look out for!

Sam Kennedy, MPS Chairperson commented:“I’m so proud of the TV managers this year. They’re doing a bang-up job! I’ve been watching them hard at work for the past month and it’s amazing to see it all come together so nicely, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the final bow be put on it on the 3rd and 4th of December”.

Last year MPS raised over €10,000 for their charity partner Focus Ireland during the broadcast. The donation link has already opened to support The Gavin Glynn Foundation which can be found here: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/mediaproductionsociety14
