Second-year Journalism students Amy McLoughlin and Hannah Giron Daygo have been announced as the new Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor of The College View.
The pair will take up their new positions in the coming days, as the academic year comes to a close.
McLoughlin is the current host of The College View Podcast, while Daygo is the current Chief Features Editor.
Reacting to the news, Ms. McLoughlin said she was “overwhelmed and delighted” to become the new Editor.
“Throughout the next academic year I hope to work closely with the MPS committee, particularly with the next FM and TV Managers, to give The College View an extra edge, further developing opportunities for students to expand their multimedia journalistic skills through photography, live streams, podcasts and so much more.”
“The College View is a fantastic place for students to begin to build their portfolios and engage in new experiences so if you’re looking to get stuck in and want to try something new in the next academic year, you know where to find us.”
Ms. Daygo said she was “honoured” to become the new Deputy Editor.
“I want to inspire more students to pursue journalism with creativity and passion. I’m hoping to create more stories and publish them for everyone.”
“I look forward to guiding a team of bright journalists to future success in the field of media. Last but not least, I want to advocate for The College View’s print publishing in the upcoming academic year.”
The announcement was made by current Editor-in-Chief Matthew Joyce during the AGM of the Media Production Society, where second-year Communications student Sarah O’Tuama was elected as Chair.
