Silicon Republic, an Irish-based technology news website, has announced that Jenny Darmody will become their new editor from this month.
The news website, based in Dublin, covers news on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths), fintech, artificial intelligence, and more.
Darmody is a Journalism graduate from Dublin City University and was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the College View during the 2012/13 academic year.
Darmody also served as a Features Editor and Deputy Editor in her time at the College View.
“Jenny takes over at the helm of Silicon Republic at a time when continuous digital and scientific transformation is reshaping society, work, the environment and the economy,” said Darren McAuliffe, co-founder of Silicon Republic.
The incoming editor said, “I am extremely passionate about the brand’s values and I’m looking forward to leading our amazing team of journalists through this next chapter, informing our readers of the most important developments in the world of science and technology.”
During her studies at DCU, Darmody wrote a weekly column for the Irish Herald entitled ”College Life”, and also served as a runner for RTÉ in the News and Current Affairs section.
Darmody has worked for Silicon Republic for over five years, on two separate occasions, writing for the Careers section, before becoming the Careers Editor, and progressing to Deputy Editor when she returned in 2020.
