[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he new building behind the Estates Office on Glasnevin campus will be used for office spaces due to the growth in staff after the incorporation of Saint Patrick’s College and All Hallows into Dublin City University in 2016.

“This will lead to an end in decongestion amongst the staff offices” said Ger McEvoy, Head of Estates, “Students will still go to the front of house for issues around queries.”

The new Estates Office building is the second project of the Estates plans to advance the public realm of Dublin City University.

“The building of the new office block will enhance not only the staff experience but the students’ as well” said McEvoy. “The front of house for queries will be quicker and more efficient than it was before.”

Last year, the Estates Office introduced the pedestrian gate entrance beside the Helix which has “proved to be hugely popular”.

The Estates Office has more projects they plan on pursuing in the coming years, such as a green roof on top of the Helix which will “support sustainability” and advance the “image and reputation” of DCU.

The Office is also working on improving the mall outside the Student Hub that is currently under construction and will be open in 2018. McEvoy hopes to bring the “outside in and the inside out”.

The new building is set to open its door for staff hopefully in the next week said McEvoy.
