Preparations are underway for DCUtv’s 24 Hour Broadcast this week. The event is set to take place from 9pm on Friday the 5th of December all the way through to the same time on Saturday the 6th.
This year, all funds raised during the broadcast will go towards the Histiocytosis Research Trust. The organisation was brought to the attention of the Media Production Society by Niamh Ní Ruarí, a first year Communications student, who herself is affected by the disease.
The show will be broadcast live from inside the Henry Grattan building, and will be packed full of a host of exciting and entertaining shows, some of which include The Weakest Link, Top of the Socs, Challenge for Change, and even their very own DCU Toy Show.
Over 110 shows were proposed to DCUtv Manager Glenn Griffin, who says he was delighted with the enthusiasm.
“It’s brilliant to have so many members involved in this year’s broadcast. The money raised during the show will all go towards the Histiocytosis Trust and I for one am proud of each and every member that is taking part. Hopefully we will hit our target of €4,000 and also help raise awareness for this heartbreaking disease”.
Several teams are already in place and working hard to make the event as successful as possible, including a sponsorship team, a behind the scenes crew, in studio producers and editors, and a comprehensive public relations team that is getting word of the broadcast out nationwide. Bank of Ireland, located in the Henry Grattan building on campus, is again providing the main sponsorship for the event.
The event will be broadcast live on www.dcumps.com, and a link for making donations will also be made available through this website.
