A quirky new approach to seeing Dublin was launched in DCU last week.
Dublindifferently.com aims to promote all aspects of Dublin history and culture through specialised tours and was launched to an intrigued audience at The Venue on Monday February 3rd.
The website allows visitors to the capital to ‘build your own’ private tour incorporating different parts of cultural Dublin. According to founder Sean McBride “all tours are designed to be interactive and sociable, giving visitors an authentic experience of Dublin”.
At the launch, McBride and Marketing Manager Charles Sheridan showcased a video of the ‘memorable, authentic and social’ experience the tours can offer. Featured destinations and routes include the Jameson Distillery, the Guinness Storehouse, the U2 tour and a literary tour.
Private walking tours will take place in the city centre and feature a personal tour guide who will spend the day with a group, interacting and informing them about a subject area of Dublin.
Alternatively, private chauffeur tours will see a personal chauffeur whisk tourists to more diverse and picturesque parts of Dublin and surrounding areas in style.
This taste of Dublin will set visitors back anything from €120 to €450 for a full day guided tour.
The unique venture has stirred up a buzz on the company’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
The company hopes the website and its development will create employment in the Dublin area, with tour guide roles and positions behind the scenes with the website being the focal point of the company.
In the coming months, the company hope to have an app to make booking more efficient and cheaper. McBride concluded “the end goal being to provide the most fluid and inclusive package to tourists using the service”.
