Ireland now has its own Campus France, a public institution assisting students who wish to study in France.
Campus France Ireland will inform Irish students about university degrees, exchange partnerships and scholarships available to them. The agency will also help students to apply to French universities and to obtain visas.
Campus France can also assist students in their daily life in France, by helping them to find accommodation or offering them language services.
French Ambassador to Ireland Emmanuelle d’Achon launched Campus France Ireland on Thursday 21 February 2013. Speaking at the launch, she said: “Welcoming more Irish students to France as part of their studies will strengthen our relationship and links leading to stronger cooperation between our two countries. In the long term, jobs and enterprises will be created by these students who will become part of the European economy.”
Head of Campus France Ireland Elodie Le Rouic pointed out that there are already strong links between the two countries. “French is the first foreign language learned in Ireland. France is the first foreign speaking country destination for Irish students thanks to more than 470 agreements of double degrees, Erasmus exchanges and joint PhDs. It represents 1034 Irish students per year of whom 514 are enrolled on Erasmus programmes”, she said at the launch.
Campus France promotes French higher education as well as international mobility in 180 locations worldwide. The Irish branch is funded by the French embassy.
