The blog for DCU’s fashion magazine, The Look, is now up and running and supplying students with their latest fashion fix.
The magazine team shot their first fashion shoot for the magazine on Tuesday the 8th of November in the studio in the Henry Grattan building.
The shoot had a formal feel to it with four different fashion looks and three different beauty looks.
The shoot was photographed by Nicky O’Flanagan, editor of The Look, and styled by Aoife Fitzgerald and Anna Murphy, all DCU students. Ruoyin Lin modelled the clothes while Evie Alkin modelled the beauty looks. The make-up was done by Aíne Breen.
The shoot will be published in the magazine which will be available on campus at the end of this semester, around week 11 or 12. It will accompany an article on catwalk to closet, how to make high fashion looks from the runway work for you.
The shoot was the first of two for this semester’s issue. Another will be shot next semester in the grounds of the college, weather permitting.
According to Katie Clinton of The Look it is hoped that the next shoot ‘reflects [the] student style of DCU’ so it will focus more on student friendly looks. It is planned that this shoot will be photographed by more than one photographer simultaneously to show different angles of the shoot.
Behind the scenes photos and video from the recent shoot will be displayed on the blog.
Articles on the newly launched blog include pieces on street style, designer Mary Katrantzou and how to wear turbans. The blog will include videos and small photo shoots done by students independently, content that will be exclusive to the blog.
The team behind The Look are delighted with the response to the blog so far. Many people are contributing to it and there has been a greater amount of content put up at this stage than previously envisaged.
One important thing The Look team are trying to push is that the magazine and blog are aimed at both sexes or they are, in their words, ’gender neutral’.
