[dropcap]U[/dropcap]ptake of Erasmus or study abroad programmes in Trinity College (TCD) dropped by 70 per cent in the first semester of this year according to Provost Patrick Prendergast, as reported by the University Times.
The number of Irish students going on Erasmus is at a record high with about 3,200 students going on the exchange programme each year whilst the country takes in about 6,300 from other European nations according to The Higher Education Authority.
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]rish students applying for colleges in England and Wales next year will not face a rise in registration fees.
The European Commission has granted €105m towards Erasmus+ in Irish colleges, including UCC, DIT, UCD and Maynooth.
DCU is one of twelve higher level institutes in Ireland that has been awarded with an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme.
