DCU Students’ Union are transforming The Mezz into an area where students can relax and eat their lunch.
The Mezz, which is currently closed to allow for changes to the interior, will be a specific non-commercial area where students can have lunch.
The SU are attempting to create more social spaces on campus for students and DCU SU President, Paul Doherty said: “At the moment there isn’t really anywhere that students can sit down comfortably and have lunch with friends, especially somewhere that isn’t commercial.”
DCU SU Welfare Officer, Neil Collins added: “With there being a big financial pressure on students, we felt it was important to provide somewhere where students could eat their own lunches and not feel that they have to spend money on campus.”
The newly decorated area will be launched this week and Doherty reassures gamers they will be re-installing the X-boxes in cabinets at the back of the room so there is room for everyone.
