The origin of Halloween began in Celtic Ireland. Traditions have changed in Ireland throughout the years, so here are some modern Halloween activities around the country.
Tayto Park, Co. Meath
Tayto Park’s Morbid Manor is a place of death and it’s tricky to get out once you step inside. It’s open from 20th-22nd, 25th-30th October: 7:30pm – 11pm. Tickets are €30 and must be pre-booked online. The tickets include: a night ride on seven attractions like the Cu Chulainn Coaster, a carnival and a 5D horror movie.
Farmaphobia, Co. Meath
Farmaphobia is a scream park based in Causey Farm, County Meath, offering five haunting experiences; The House of Dolls, Dead and Breakfast, Vamporium, Field of Screams and Mutation Morgue. Depending on the day, tickets range from €18-€32.
Drive-in movies, Co. Meath
ScreamFest Drive-In Movies Navan is on from 29th-31st of October. They will be showing the best Halloween movies for children during the day and for adults at night. Scream, Friday the 13th, The Conjuring, The Goonies, and Dirty Dancing are some of the movies that will be shown. The event costs €25 per car.
Belfast, Co. Antrim
Radio Q are the media partner for Belfast’s biggest Halloween event and fireworks display on Sunday 29th of October from 4-7pm at Titanic Belfast. There will be carnival capers, spooky street theatre, music, workshops and fire juggling. 2017’s theme is Day of the Dead and there’s many activities available for all ages. The event is free and tickets are not needed. There is a free ghost shuttle bus to and from the event.
Alright Pumpkin, Co. Meath
There’s nothing cuter or more authentic than picking your own pumpkin from a patch. The Alright Pumpkin patch in Meath has been growing pumpkins for three years and invite you to come and pick your own pumpkin there this halloween. They started it after they visited their first field of pumpkins and pumpkin patch while working on farms as a harvester in America. They wanted to bring the fun and colour back here to Ireland so why not go and hand pick your own pumpkin this year and have the real american experience.
Charles Fort in the Summer Cove part of Kinsale, Co. Cork is haunted by the ghost known as the Lady in White. The famous ghost story is describes a wedding that led to three funerals. The Lady in White was a new bride who committed suicide after her husband was murdered on their wedding night. He was murdered by her father, who then shot himself. It’s known to be one of the creepiest places in all of Ireland.
