‘In The Night Garden’ – Winter Florals.

When you think of Autumn/Winter the last thing you think about are florals. This trend is usually reserved for Spring, however this year has been the exception with blooms being seen all over the catwalk. From Prada to Balenciaga, all the biggest names in fashion have been experimenting with this unusual trend. It is by no means girly and instead, packs a fashion punch. Teamed with tough faux leather and an attitude to match, this trend is easy to wear, day or night.

When we think of this time of year we think of cosy wool, velvet and being wrapped up, not dainty florals and pretty prints. However, this year’s winter bouquet is far from dainty, think rich hues of burgundy and gold on a backdrop of inky navy or black. Embroidery takes over when it comes to accessories and black bags are carefully embellished with bright, contrasting flowers, complete with pearls and sequins. The shoe of the season is a floral ankle boot with a low heel, and these make it simple to offer a subtle nod to the trend if you don’t want to go all out flower power (just make sure you don’t wear them out in the rain).

Isabel Marant (below) is a fabulous example of the trend on the catwalk, florals on black teamed with even more black, and somehow it just works. The model look effortlessly stylish, comfy and on trend, this look ticks all the boxes when it comes to new season dressing. It can be seen all over the high-street in the likes of Marks and Spencer with their stunning dresses and boots and Pennys with their on point accessories (pictured). This trend is going to be huge this season and it is so simple to incorporate into your wardrobe, adding a floral bag will give any outfit an instant update. Even your floral pieces from the summer could work if teamed with the right outfit. Think cosy knits and winter boots paired with that cute summer dress, adding loads of layers and dark hues will ensure you nail the trend and don’t look like you’re in the wrong season. And it isn’t just dresses and bags, everything from jeans to jackets have been given a floral update. Make the trend work for you and wear it how you want, adding your own style and twist is what fashion is all about.
