Handballers in World Championship action

With a record entry list for the 2012 World Handball Championships, DCU have the privilege of sending eleven of its students to this premier sporting event.

Eight boys and three girls from the University will be competing at the Citywest Hotel over the weekend in a bid to secure a place in the finals which will take place early next week. Among these young hopefuls is the extremely talented Donal Wrynn, who at just 18 years of age wrote his name into the history books when he brought the All-Ireland Handball Minor Singles 40 x 20 title back to Leitrim for the very first time earlier this year.

The DCU team consists of Leona Ryder, Clodagh McManamon, Marina Kilduff, Terry McElvaney, Gavin Cawley, Paudy McKenna, John Walsh, Peter Hughes, Conor O’Gorman, Donal Wrynn and Ciarán Neary.
