A new bus route by Dublin Bus has commenced, to include a stop at DCU.
The N4 bus route will call at DCU’s Collins Avenue stop on its journey between the Point Village and Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.
The bus route is part of the new ‘orbital routes’ that have been announced by Dublin Bus, consisting of the N4 and N6 bus routes.
Dublin Bus says these ‘orbital routes’ will provide connections between suburbs, without needing to travel into the city centre.
According to Dublin Bus, these new routes will run every ten minutes from 6am to 11pm on weekdays and 9am to 7pm on Saturdays, with less frequent times on Sundays.
The bus will run at different notable stops such as Point Village, East Wall, DCU Collins Avenue, Glasnevin Avenue, Finglas Village, Connolly Hospital, and Blanchardstown Shopping Centre
The Finglas Village stop will also serve as an interchange stop for the N6 stop, which will serve Howth Junction, Kilbarrack, Northside Shopping Centre, Beaumont Hospital and Charlestown.
DCU President Daire Keogh welcomed the announcement, adding that it will “help us achieve the ambitious sustainability goals for the university”.
A DCU spokesperson said “The university welcomes the new N4 bus route, which will connect DCU east to Clontarf and the Docklands and west out to Finglas and Blanchardstown.”
“It’s particularly significant that it will run 24 hours a day,” the spokesperson added.
The new bus routes will also support the lower fares introduced last month, including the TFI 90 Minute Fare.
