DCU campus accommodation may be made available to the HSE on an emergency basis if the Covid-19 pandemic worsens.
Residents living across the three DCU campuses received an email this evening informing them that emergency response procedures have been put in place that may include making some accommodation blocks available to the HSE at short notice.
DCU campus residences have asked all residents to fill in a Google Form by 6pm, Wednesday, March 18th, informing them of whether or not they are currently staying on campus.
“Failure to do so puts everyone at risk and may lead to access to your room being blocked if it is allocated for emergency use.” they said.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced on Thursday, March 12th that all schools, colleges and childcare facilities are to close in response to the pandemic.
Following this announcement, Campus Residences assured students living on the Glasnevin, St Pats and All Hallows campuses that their sites remain “fully open and operational as normal.”
With the closure of the university, many students living on the three campuses have opted to go home and isolate themselves in keeping with government advice, leaving their belongings behind in their rooms.
It is unclear as of yet as to which rooms will be allocated for emergency purposes and whether or not students will be required to remove their belongings from the campus.
