Faith in the future and in yourself was the message George Hook gave to DCU students last Tuesday as part of Enterprise Society’s Enterprise Week.
“You are all lucky” said the Rugby Commentator and Newstalk Presenter in his typical confident growl to a classroom full of students. In his own words the “fat, balding, toothless, old hooky” gave the attendees a straightforward look at life from his point of view and his own personal rules for success.
Hook was not the only attraction of the week, with Monday playing host to Larissa Atkinson from FitWell and Vikki Shorten from Power PR and VSL Jewellery.
Enterprise Week also saw the launch of the student accelerator program UStart. The program offers students the chance to develop an idea into a viable business. Gavin Duffy from Dragon’s Den and solicitor Gerald Kean launched the program on Thursday.
All guests spoke about the tough road ahead for students of this generation. Hook told students he was “in awe of you, you are facing a much tougher job than I had”. Gavin Duffy assured students “we will put it right”.
