DCU has failed to make the top 400 in the Times Higher Education University Rankings, with no Irish universities featuring in the top 100 list of the latest list.
Earlier this year, DCU ranked 46th in the QS World University Rankings of new universities. DCU also featured 86th in a similar Times Higher Education list of top 100 universities in the world less than 50 years old.
Universities are judged on teaching, international outlook, industry income, research and citations.
Trinity College Dublin is the top Irish University to feature on the list at 110th, up seven places from last year. TCD received an overall score of 56.3%.
University College Dublin dropped from 159th last year to 187th this year. UCD’s overall score was 47.9%.
Both TCD and UCD scored highest in international outlook and citations, but both were marked poorly when it came to industry income and research.
NUI Galway is the third Irish University on the list at 336th place, a considerable jump from last year. University College Cork also features in the 300-350 section of the list with NUI Maynooth featuring in the 350-400th place section. Queens University Belfast featured in the 276-300th section.
University of Limerick also does not feature in the top 400th.
California Institute of Technology came in first place with an overall score of 95.5%. University of Oxford and Stanford University share second place and Harvard University came in fourth.
