It was Toxic Tuesday with a twist on the 1st of ‘Movember’ as DCU Style Soc, DCU Force Rugby and DCU ESoc launched their fundraising with a slave auction.
Students enjoyed an entertaining night at this year’s launch of the Movember campaign, which was held in conjunction with Toxic Tuesday and raised €300.
Moustache themed goodies were handed out in the Hub throughout the afternoon, while main proceedings kicked off in the NuBar at 9pm. The ‘tache’ remained the theme of the night, with ever-popular speed-dating ensuring everyone got involved in the fun.
Next on the bill for the night was the infamous Slave Auction, which tested the abilities of some of DCU’s familiar personalities to attend to other students every command.
Members of the societies involved in the initiative are eager to capitalise on the generosity of students and raise a great deal more by the end of the month. More exciting projects will be undertaken throughout Movember, providing opportunity for people to contribute.
A calendar featuring DCU students will be on sale during the month. The societies involved in Movember would like to see all DCU students actively supporting the initiative in aid of an important cause.
A total of €3,000 was raised during last year’s campaign, making DCU one of the most generous groups contributing to the cause. All funds raised for Movember in Ireland go straight to Action Prostate Cancer, a subgroup of the Irish Cancer Society.
